The Eccentricity of Papa
I remembered you. You liked to count. You enjoyed counting and you checked things by counting them at the same time. You counted many things: your keys, your drawers and door locks, your chairs, your whistles, your notes, your expenses and you head counted your children every night before you slept. You also counted your shirt buttons, your trousers buttons and even your zipper. For your zipper, you zip it up and down. First, you zip it up, then you zip it down to ensure your zip worked and then up again to locked it up. You then counted 1, 2 and 3 before you let go your fingers. This is to confirm that you had zip it close and safe and nothing is hanging outside. I knew it’s not nice to let loose your fly. As for buttons, they are easier to manage. You don’t need to zip it up and down. You just count them once they are locked. You concluded by counting UP 1, 2 and 3 and then DOWN 1, 2 and 3. And it’s okay. Sometimes vice versa, DOWN 1,2,3 first then UP 1,2,3and okay. That’s the eccentricity of you. With such regimental disciplines, there are rarely any buttons left unbutton and hardly ever any buttons misplaced, mis-positioned or misaligned or missing. I think you missed out joining the army. Otherwise you made a good RSM (Regimental Sergeant Major).
I did my research on Google. Research shows eccentricity is often associated with genius, intellectual giftedness and creativity. Eccentric habits stem from a mind so original that it cannot be conformed to societal norms. I think I inherited some of these genes from you. I think differently from many of my peers and there are evidences of this eccentricity appearing in various stages of my life.
